Seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu recently appeared in newly released documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. The Poker Hall of Famer, however, had no direct contact with Epstein and did not visit Epstein’s infamous island.
Negreanu’s name came up in an email exchange between Epstein and entrepreneur Austin Hill, who suggested that Epstein could benefit from learning poker from the pro. Hill linked Epstein to a YouTube tutorial featuring Negreanu, noting his expertise in the game.
“It was fun to play poker with you,” Hill wrote. “Here is the basics on how to play done by one of the greats, Daniel Negranau.”
Negreanu, noticing the misspelling of his name, took the mention lightly and clarified there was no personal interaction beyond the video.
Background on the Epstein-Hill Connection
Hill, co-founder and former CEO of Bitcoin firm Blockstream, reportedly had dealings with Epstein dating back to 2014, including investment discussions and potential meetings in New York and Montreal. Epstein is known to have invested in Hill’s company and invited him to his private US Virgin Islands property, Little Saint James.
The email mentioning Negreanu focused purely on poker strategy, and Hill has not commented on his broader relationship with Epstein.
Negreanu’s Clean Record
Despite the mention, Negreanu’s career remains free of controversy. The Canadian poker legend was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2014 alongside tournament director Jack McClelland, solidifying his status as one of the game’s all-time greats.
